Home Theater Seating

How to Select Home Theater Seats
The first thing you will want to consider when selecting home theater seating is space. You will need to decide if you want to maximize comfort or the number of people your theater can seat. If you wish to maximize comfort you will want larger aisles, more leg room and wider more comfortable chairs. If you want to maximize the number of viewers, you will reduce aisle width, have less leg room and select smaller chairs.

Remember viewing distance and your rooms sweet spot will be a major factor on how you place your seating. Any reputable manufacturer of home theater seating can determine the best location for your home theater seats if you provide them with your rooms dimensions. When selecting home theater seats, remember that chairs with high backs may block sound from surround channel speakers.

Types of Seating
Classic

The classic home theater seat is similar to what you would find in your local movie theater. Classic theater seating provides the optimal body position for watching movies. Many manufactures have lines of comfortable classic home theater seats. Classic home theater seats will provide a more traditional look and movie theater atmosphere.

Recliners

Another popular theater seating choice are recliners. Theater loungers provide a great level of comfort and allow viewers to adjust their seating position for themselves. You can choose to either purchase recliners in rows or stand-alone units. If choosing a theater lounger remember that additional space considerations need to be made. Recliners with high backs may also block surround sound from rear speakers.

Theater Chairs

Theater chairs provide the greatest flexibility of any seating option. Individual chairs that are not connected to a row can be easily moved to accommodate any situation.
